New Year, 2014-2015

MOTs Moms!

Welcome to the new school year and new MOTs year.  We hope and pray that this new school year has started out well, and for those who have children in school we pray that this year is one of learning, new friendships, and fun for your children.

We have an exciting year ahead of us in MOTs, and we are so looking forward to sharing it with you! Our first meeting is Thursday, September 11 at 9:30.  We have changed from Wednesdays to Thursdays, but we are still meeting at the same time and place, 9:30-11:30 in the Cafe at Grandview Nazarene.  The church has expanded their preschool days, so there will be extra moms and kids milling around.  :)

We are also trying a new set-up this year.  In an effort to deepen relationships between moms, we will be playing get to know you activities. Expect some tasty M&Ms and some fun door prizes.  We also will be having one speaker a month, while the other meeting each will be devoted to discussing what we learned the previous meeting, and just more getting to know each other time.  We really want to deepen and enrich all of our friendships.  Because, lets be honest, being a mom is hard!

MOTS this Wednesday!

MOTS will be meeting for our last normal meeting this coming Wednesday.  There will still be a group playdate in May and hopefully some other activities this Summer, but this is our last meeting for the year.

Please join us Wednesday for some visiting time, games and friendships, and brunch :).  Hope to see everyone there.

MOTS - March 12th Mom's Night Out - Home Businesses

Hi Ladies!

Shari Ammerman is a pilates instructor in Prosser and a neat mom of four kids, high school age and older.  She will be joining us this Wednesday, March 12th to teach us some basic pilates.  We will also have a lot of visiting time!  Please dress in comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat if you have one. She will bring some as well.  See you Wednesday!   

Also!  We have planed a fun Mom's Night Out event for Monday, March 17th from 6:30pm - 9:30pm (come anytime) at Clydine Norell's house.  She is Mandy Hoffard and Shelley Dixon's friend who offered her beautiful house for this Mom's Night Out.  Her address is 12823 Paige Lane, Prosser.  Paige Lane is almost at the very end of North River Road.  For the Mom's Night Out, we will have some of our MOTS moms who have at-home businesses sharing with us about their products.  They will be set up and we all have the chance to visit with them (and each other) and learn about some great products.  There will be refreshments.  This is a great opportunity to spend an evening without our sweet kiddos, learning and visiting.  Some of the businesses that will be there are:

Survey results are in!

The survey results are in, and most of us would like to hear more about parenting and how to get our young kids involved with chores :)!  So, come at 9:15am, get a coffee, drop of your kids and enjoy a relaxing morning with other moms hearing from Jolene VerMulm about parenting and chores.

Marriage and Small Group Resources

Christian Small groups that we are connected to and would love to have you join:

- Grandview Nazarene's executive pastor Wes Hershberger and his wife Cassandra are leading a parenting class on Wednesday nights at 6:30 pm at Grandview Nazarene. Book and video "Spiritual Parenting" by Michelle Anthony.  Purchase of book is not necessary   to attend class but is available for $11.00. Childcare is provided.

- Sean and Moira Carpenter have a young adults bible study every other Tuesday at the Grandview Nazarene church from 6:30-8pm.  Currently studying Revelations.  Single and couples are welcomed and childcare is provided.  

- Bethel-Prosser has a Bible study that meets at 6:30pm  on Tuesdays at Friendship Baptist in Prosser. Currently doing "Love and Respect", childcare is provided.

January 8th Meeting

Happy New Year!  

MOTS starts again this week!  Just a few details: 

Our JANUARY 8th meeting will NOT be in the Cafe' as normal.  There will be a Pastor's meeting there.  Please use the main entrance, we will be meeting in ROOM 111. 

Blue table will be providing brunch.

Hope to see you Wednesday at 9:30am at the Grandview Church of the Nazarene in room 111.

Bunco and Cookie Exchange

Bring a plate of cookies (about 3 dozen) and come on December 11th for our Christmas bunco party and cookie exchange.

We will each go home with a plate of assorted cookies and a smile on our face from a fun fun morning!

Yellow table will be providing brunch :).

Next Meeting - November 13th!

We will only be meeting one time in November, due to Thanksgiving.  So please come join us for brunch, visiting and a guest speaker from Catholic Family Services who will be sharing about opportunities to volunteer as a family.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone, not this week, but NEXT Wednesday, November 13th at 9:30 am at the Grandview Nazarene Church!

Bill's Berry Farm!

Come join us this Wednesday (10/23) for our MOTS playdate at Bill's Berry Farm!  This is a great time for us to play with our kids and visit with other moms.  We will have the park to ourselves, and will have the chance to ride the kid's train, pick out a pumpkin at the pumpkin patch and enjoy their tasty donuts.  There are a few things we would like for you to bring on Wednesday:

- a snack to share (we will set out the snacks on a table at the park)

- $5 per child for donuts, train ride, and pumpkin OR $1 for donut only (if you haven't already paid, we will collect the money on Wednesday.  Moms can pay $1 for a donut as well). 

If you haven't been to Bill's Berry Farm before, a group will be meeting at the Grandview Nazarene Church at 9-9:15 and then caravan out at 9:20 together.  If you would rather meet us there, we will be at Bill's Berry Farm around 9:30 am.

Come Visit and Decorate!

We are ready to get to know each other!  The last two meetings have been full of very helpful information, now we need a chance to discuss what we've heard and get to know each other!  October 9th will be the perfect day for that! 

Come use your creative skills to decorate leaf-shaped sugar cookies.  Cookies and frosting will be provided, please bring a large plate/platter to take your cookies home on, and any sprinkles that you would like to use and/or share!  You will have a plate of delicious cookies to take home for your family.  We can't wait to see you on October 9th at 9:30 am!

We will also be having a kids costume exchange on October 9th.  If you have any children's costumes that you are willing to loan to another mom, please bring them to the MOTS meeting (please label them clearly with your name and phone number).  That morning, we can all "shop" for costumes for our kids, and the price is right :).  We are just BORROWING costumes, so we do ask you to return them in November!

The MOTS year has officially started!

It was great to see so many of you this past Wednesday for our first MOTS meeting of the Fall!  Here are a few pictures from our meeting:

We have an exciting year planned for MOTS, and we want you to be excited also, so we are including the schedule for next few meetings.  

September 25th

 - Introductions and a chance to get to know each other.

 - Jon Ladines will be sharing with us about self-defense.  He teaches classes that a few of our moms have taken and thoroughly enjoyed.  We need to be ready to protect our kiddos :).  Wear comfortable clothes.

 - Brunch will be provided by the BLUE table.

October 9th

 - We will be decorating Fall-themed sugar cookies and getting to know each other better.  Cookies and frosting will be provided.  Yum!  

-  Our first ever kids costume exchange will take place.  Please bring any children's costumes you have (with your name on them), and we will have a chance to borrow each other's costumes for our kids - what a blessing!

- Brunch will be provided by the PINK table.

October 23rd

-  We will be meeting at Bill's Berry Farm.  We've reserved the farm for the morning.  This is a highlight every year.  Kids can play in the playground.  We go on a hayride and pick out a pumpkin, moms can press cider, and we all enjoy pumpkin doughnuts.  It's a great morning!

Welcome home baby Mason Newhouse!

MOTS mom Kendra Newhouse, her husband Brian and big sister Alina welcomed home new baby Mason earlier this week.  We would love to bless the Newhouses by bringing a few meals for them.  If you would like to sign up, click here.

MOTS Kick-Off on September 11th!

Our first MOTS meeting for the 2013-2014 year will be September 11th!  Mark your calendars!

Do you know any moms with young children who might benefit from the friendships, speakers and encouraging environment at MOTS?  Take a minute and send a personal invitation to them, it might be just what they need. :)

For our first meeting we have a guest speaker coming to share about personality types and how we can understand and love ourselves and those around us (including our kids) better.  See you on September 11th at 9:30 am at the Grandview Nazarene church. Feel free to come early for extra social time!

Congratulations MOTS mom Katie Elliott on her new baby girl!

Hannah Louise Elliott joined her big brother Luke just two days before his 2nd birthday.   He wanted a sister, so she's a perfect gift.  

She was born on July 18th at 9:39 PM. 7lbs. 1oz. and 18.25in.

Meal Schedule for Dawn Wolf!

Dawn and Pat Wolf and big brother Ace (2 years old) welcomed a baby girl to their family on July 6th. Landrie Kate was born just after midnight and weighed 8 lbs 4 oz, 19.5 inches long.  If you would like to help us bless their family of 4 with meals for the next few weeks, please visit Dawn's Meal Schedule.

Family BBQ is STILL ON!

Check back here around 4pm if the weather looks terrible, and we'll let you know any last minute changes, but for now, plan on the BBQ tonight from 5-8.   Pray for sunshine, bring your kids' rain boots, and join us at the Prosser City Park next to the Library.  See you tonight!

Summer Activities

Free Summer Movies at Fairchild Cinemas in Pasco

Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning, Fairchild Cinemas is showing free movies during the summer (thru August 15). Two movies will be shown each week (doors open at 9 am, last movie starts at 10 am).   See their flyer for more information.

Library Summer Reading Program

Mid-Columbia Library in Prosser has a Summer Reading program with some fun activities and special events (free and open to everyone!).  Stop by the Library to sign up and get more information.  The calendar of special events is below.  See the library website for a weekly calendar.

Moms of Tots Family BBQ! Don't forget to bring your whole family and join us for our Family BBQ this Tuesday, June 25th at the Prosser City Park from 5-8 (come when you can).  Hotdogs and drinks will be provided, please bring a side dish or dessert to share!  Hope to see you there!
